The Wooded Mountain Home is a remodel/addition project. The free-standing two story garage was incorporated and re-proposed as the master suite with a guest bedroom suite above. The connecting piece became a focused entry hall. The main living spaces were re-configured to provide a central gathering area around the new kitchen, while taking advantage of the special view to a wild mountain stream.
The architecture of this home for an active young family suggests the low-slung look of a modern farmhouse. The home sits well back from the road on a relatively level large suburban lot. The exterior is clad in a variety of dark finished horizontal and vertical wood boards and contrasting natural finished design elements and a standing seam silvery metal roof. Interior spaces are laid-out around a central kitchen that opens to a main great room with access to covered outdoor dining and a swimming pool. Tucked under the roof are a play-space for active siblings and accommodations for sleep-over friends
This modest apartment building is designed to be an infill structure along an arterial into downtown Chattanooga. It is also located adjacent to the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. The Project is being developed by Chattanooga Neighborhood Enterprise and intended to provide affordable housing units. As designed, the building is three stories with on-grade parking and contains thirteen one-bedroom apartments and seven studio apartments.
